PLEASE CAREFULLY READ THE FOLLOWING:
For all curriculum programs leading to an Associate Degree, Diploma, or Certificate credential, the following admissions steps must be completed prior to registration. The prefered date to have all of these admissions steps completed is at least two weeks prior to the registration period for the term you intend to enroll.
1. Complete and submit the online admissions application.
*When completing this application, please choose the major or program of study that you intend to complete at Gaston College.
Students intending to complete just one or two courses at Gaston College and transfer these credits to another institution should choose Visiting Student as their program of study.
Notice to Dual Enrollment, Huskins, and Learn and Earn High School Students: When asked for Entrance Status, please choose "Freshmen" on the drop-down menu. Do not select "Transfer"
2. Request that your high school mail an official high school transcript to the Admissions Office at Gaston College, 201 Highway 321 S., Dallas, NC 28034-1499.
The following documentation can be submitted in the place of a traditional high school transcript:
*Official Adult High School Transcript
*Official GED scores
*Official transcript from an International Correspondence School
*Official transcript from a state certified Home School
*Official transcript from a regionally accredited college or university reflecting an Associate Degree or higher.
3. Request that all colleges from where credit was received submit official transcripts.
4. Upon completion of this online admissions application, please call the Office of Admissions at (704) 922-6214 to schedule a Compass Placement Test. Compass Placement Test that evaluates skills in reading, writing, and math. The placement test may not be required of any person who has scored 500 on the verbal or critical reading section and 520 on the math section of the SAT or who has scored 21 on the English section and 21 on the math section the ACT. (All test scores must be less than five years old.) A transfer student who has earned a "C" in both college level Algebra and college level English from a regionally accredited institution shall have the test waived.***
5. Upon completion or exemption of the Compass Placement Test, all applicants are required to complete the online New Student Orientation. Directions on how to complete the New Student Oriention will be given to the student upon completion of the Compass Placement Test. If you have questions regarding the New Student Orientation, please call the Office of Admissions at (704) 922-6214.
Applications without a social security number:
Applications submitted without a Social Security Number require significant additional processing. If you choose not to disclose your SSN, processing of your application will be delayed significantly. In addition, you should be aware that for some purposes, for example tuition tax credit documents (1098T) and federal financial aid, social security numbers are required.
