Filing for Undergraduate Admission
After reading the instructions, please fill out the online application as thoroughly as possible. Your failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information on this application will be grounds to deny or withdraw your admission, or dismiss you after enrollment. When you are finished, click the 'SUBMIT' button on the left column of any application screen.
Students planning to apply for fall term should submit applications soon after September 1 of the year preceding enrollment.
All applicants must submit, after academic approval and prior to entering Appalachian, an immunization and medical record. This information is required by North Carolina immunization regulations, revised October 1, 1984, and January 1, 1994.
Application Materials
A complete application includes the following:
- A $50 non-refundable application fee payable by credit/debit card (Visa or MasterCard accepted) or by personal check or money order.
- An official copy of your high school transcript, which includes grades 9 through 12. Transfer applicants are required to submit an official high school transcript.
- Freshman applicants must submit Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) results
directly from the Educational Testing Service to Appalachian. Junior-year scores are acceptable; however, we recommend that applicants take the SAT again during the senior year, preferably in October. We recommend that all transfer applicants submit test scores, but transfer students with fewer than 30 semester hours of transferable work must present SAT (or ACT) scores. For SAT application instructions, contact your counselor or the College Entrance Examination Board, Box 592, Princeton, New Jersey 08540. American College Testing (ACT) scores are also acceptable. These scores must be sent directly from the American College Testing Program to Appalachian. Appalachian's code for the SAT I is 5010; the ACT code is 3062. SAT and ACT tests taken after March 1, 2005, will require essay/writing component. This is a requirement for high school graduates of 2006 and beyond.
College transcripts. If you have attended any college, you must contact the registrar's office at each institution and request that official transcript(s) be sent to the Office of Admissions, Appalachian State University, ASU Box 32004, Boone, North Carolina 28608-2004. Students must have a minimum 2.0 cumulative grade point average on all transferable college course work (as computed by Appalachian). High school applicants who are dual-enrolled in college courses should also arrange for official transcripts to be sent to Appalachian. High School seniors who have taken classes at a college/university need to send all college transcripts to Admissions.
Mail all materials to the Office of Admissions, Appalachian State University, ASU Box 32004, Boone, North Carolina 28608-2004. Admission Decisions

High School Transcripts

Some North Carolina public high schools have the capability to electronically send official high school transcripts when you apply online. We encourage you to visit your school counselor to verify coursework and grades prior to requesting an electronic transcript.
To send an electronic transcript, you must:
- Complete this online application.
- Make sure you have entered the following information in your profile and/or application:
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- NCWise ID (Your NCWise ID is your public high school student
identifier number. Providing the NCWise ID is voluntary and if provided
will give you the opportunity to request your high school transcript
electronically)
- Gender
- Current high school
- E-mail address
- Be currently enrolled at a participating public high school in North Carolina (one that has converted from the SIMS system to NCWISE to manage student data). If you are not sure about your school, check with your school counselor or office staff.
If these conditions were met when you submitted your application, you will then be presented with the option of sending your high school transcript electronically to that school.
