For more information please see http://admissions.ncsu.edu/dates.htm
Spring Admission: The application deadline for admission for the spring semester is November 1. (The College of Design and First Year College do not accept spring applicants.)
Before a decision can be made on your application the following items must be received:
High School Transcript: Please have your counselor send a copy of your transcript directly to the Admissions office. The transcript should include cumulative high school grade point average, rank in class (if available), and a list of senior year courses. A decision on your application will be delayed until this information is received. High School seniors who have taken classes at a college/university need to send all college transcripts to Admissions.
Standardized Test Scores: NC State requires either SAT or ACT scores including writing scores be sent directly from the testing agency. Junior year scores may be used for admission but we strongly recommend a fall senior year score. We encourage an October test since scores received earlier allow for earlier notification. Scores are invalid after five years. NC State's College Board code is 5496; ACT code is 3164.
Transfer Applicants
Students applying for transfer admission should have at least 30 semester hours of transferable credits (http://admissions.ncsu.edu//transfer/transreqs.htm), including both an English and math course (some programs may require additional minimum coursework). Transfer students must select a specific degree program.
Transfer Application Deadlines: The priority deadline for transfer admission for the summer or fall is April 1; applications for admission for the spring semester are due by November 1. Transfer applications and all academic credentials for the College of Design are due December 1; new students are not admitted to Design for the spring.
College Transcripts: Transfer students will need an official transcript from the registrar of each institution previously attended and an official copy of the high school record. If your name has changed, indicate on the application the name that will appear on the transcripts. A decision on your application will be delayed until this information is received.
If work has been completed at an institution outside of the U.S., official transcripts and an official course-by-course evaluation from an accredited foreign educational credentials evaluation service must be submitted. The official evaluation must include course, grade, and credit equivalents in U.S. terms. We will use the credit evaluation to determine your academic admissibility, how many credits you have earned, and how your courses transfer into the U.S. educational system. We suggest using one of the following accredited foreign educational credential evaluation services:
AACRAO International Education Services (IES) (202) 293-9161, ext. 6600 Education Evaluators International, Inc. (401) 521-5340 Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. To send an electronic transcript, you must:
- Complete this online application.
- Make sure you have entered the following information in your profile and/or application:
- First and last name
- Date of birth
- NCWise ID (Your NCWise ID is your public high school student
identifier number. Providing the NCWise ID is voluntary and if provided
will give you the opportunity to request your high school transcript
electronically)
- Gender
- Current high school
- E-mail address
- Be currently enrolled at a participating public high school in North Carolina (one that has converted from the SIMS system to NCWISE to manage student data). If you are not sure about your school, check with your school counselor or office staff.
