UNC Wilmington encourages the use of an electronic application. No distinction will be made between this application and the university's paper or electronic application form. The following instructions tell you how to complete and submit our application. Every applicant to UNC Wilmington who claims to be eligible for the North Carolina tuition rate must complete the North Carolina Residency Form. Mail the residency application with the application fee statement.

Below are instructions and information related to filing an application for undergraduate admission to the University of North Carolina at Wilmington. Please read and follow instructions carefully

Instruction Checklist for All Applicants

  1. After reading the instructions, please fill out the online application as thoroughly as possible. Your failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information will be grounds to deny or withdraw your admission, or make you subject to disciplinary sanctions after enrollment. When you are finished, click the ‘SUBMIT’ button on the left column of any application screen. Print the Application Fee Statement that appears after you submit the application and return it to the address below. Signature of a parent or legal guardian is required of applicants under 18 years of age. Once you have successfully submitted the UNCW online application do not try to access the same application again. This will cause multiple applications to be created and delay your application processing time. If you wish to make changes to any information, change your major or update to a different term after you submit the entire application, please submit a written request titled ‘Addendum’ and send it to the Office of Admissions or email the information to admissions@uncw.edu.
  2. At the end of the application you will be prompted for the $60 nonrefundable application fee payment. You may pay with check, money order or credit card (online). If paying by check or money order please include the payment with your Application Fee Statement and include your full legal name on the check or money order. Please do not send cash.
  3. Print and complete the North Carolina Residency Form (select link above) and submit with the Application Fee Statement if you are requesting the North Carolina tuition rate.
  4. Follow application deadline dates below.
  5. Your U.S. Social Security Number (SSN) is requested but not mandatory. However, if you intend to apply for or receive any financial aid, including outside or institutional merit-based scholarship support, you must provide your SSN so the University can process your application for aid and/or scholarship disbursement. Providing your SSN will also facilitate matching test scores and transcripts with your UNCW applicant records. Your SSN will only be used in accordance with state and federal law; it will not be used as your student identification number.
  6. All transcripts must come directly from the schools attended and be marked Official. No transcripts will be accepted from the student.
  7. If you are not a U.S. citizen, enclose a copy of your I-551/Alien Registration Card (Green Card) or Visa.
