New Freshmen
(High school graduates or recipients of an equivalency diploma)
To be considered for admission to ECSU new freshmen who graduated from high school after June, 1990 must meet the Minimum Course Requirements (MCRs) stipulated by the University of North Carolina. The specific requirements are as follows:

- 4 units of mathematics including two complete units of algebra I and II, and geometry or a higher level mathematics course for which algebra is a prerequisite
- 3 units of science including at least (1) unit of a life or biological science, at least (1) unit of physical science (for example, physics or chemistry) and at least (1) laboratory course
- 2 units of social studies including U.S. history
- 2 foreign languages
Failure to satisfy these requirements may result in revocation of your acceptance to ECSU.
Complete and submit the following:
- After reading the instructions, please fill out the online application as thoroughly as possible. Your failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information on this application will be grounds to deny or withdraw your admission, or dismiss you after enrollment. When you are finished, click the 'SUBMIT' button on the left column of any application screen. Print the application agreement statement that appears after you submit the application. Return it with a nonrefundable application fee of $30 to the address below.
- Have official high school transcript sent to the Office of Admissions (partial one at time of application; final at the end of senior year or GED equivalency). High School seniors who have taken classes at a college/university need to send all college transcripts to Admissions.
- Have official ACT/SAT I scores sent to the Office of Admissions. (All public universities in North Carolina require scores for the writing section of the SAT or ACT. The writing section of the test is included with the SAT, but if you are taking the ACT you must make sure to register for the "ACT Plus Writing”.)
Transfer Students
(Students who have been enrolled for credit at another college or university)
Transfer students will have their transcripts evaluated in relation to the requirements of the specific academic program for which they are applying. Courses to be transferred must be equivalent to respective courses in degree programs at ECSU. Courses graded less than a C will not be accepted for transfer credit.
Students who have been placed on academic probation at their previous institutions will be considered for admission to ECSU. However, transfer students who have been suspended or dismissed for academic or disciplinary reasons from a previous institution may not be considered for admission to ECSU.
Complete and submit the following:
- After reading the instructions, please fill out the online application as thoroughly as possible. Your failure to provide complete, accurate, and truthful information on this application will be grounds to deny or withdraw your admission, or dismiss you after enrollment. High School Transcripts

Some North Carolina public high schools have the capability to electronically send official high school transcripts when you apply online. We encourage you to visit your school counselor to verify coursework and grades prior to requesting an electronic transcript.
To send an electronic transcript, you must:
- Complete this online application.
- Make sure you have entered the following information in your profile and/or application:
- First and Last name - This must match your NCWISE name (use the name that appears on your report card, or check with your high school counselor).
- NCWISE Student ID - Your NCWISE Student ID is your public high school student identifier number and can be found on your report card. Providing the NCWISE Student ID is voluntary and will give you the opportunity to request your high school transcript electronically.
- Current high school (or high school at time of graduation)
- Date of birth
- E-mail address
- Gender
- Be currently enrolled, or enrolled at the time of graduation, at a participating public high school in North Carolina that has converted from the SIMS system to NCWISE to manage student data. If you are not sure about your school's current status, or status at the time you graduated, check with your school counselor or office staff.
If these conditions were met when you submitted your application, you will then be presented with the option of sending your high school transcript electronically to that school.
