Freshman Applicants
Freshman Application Deadlines for Fall Admission: NC State University has adopted an Admission Notification Date system beginning with applications for Summer/Fall 2009 admission.
Deadline 1: October 15 Notification Date: December 15
Deadline 2 - Early Action Deadline and College of Design* Deadline: November 1 Notification Date: January 30 Applications received and completed by the November 1 Early Action deadline will be considered for NC State University's highly selective merit-based campus scholarships.
*Applications for studio majors in the College of Design must be complete (application, transcripts, scores, fee and online portfolio received) by the November 1 deadline. Studio majors should only be listed as a first choice. Studio major applicants will be notified by January 15 whether their application is under review by the College of Design or instead their application is being reviewed for their second choice of a non-studio major. They will be notified of an admission decision on their application at the end of March.
Final Review Deadline: February 1 Final Review Notification Date: March 30 Applications submitted late will be considered on the basis of space availability.
We encourage everyone to apply as early as possible. Applications must be received and required materials postmarked by 5 pm ET on the deadline date to be considered for the corresponding notification date (except for Design applications, which must be complete by the December 1 deadline). If you do not meet a deadline your application will be reviewed in the next notification period. Applications submitted after 5 pm ET on February 1, the Final Review deadline, will be reviewed on the basis of space availability. All applicants have until May 1 to inform us of their decision to attend.
For more information please see http://admissions.ncsu.edu/how-apply/
Spring Admission: The application deadline for admission for the spring semester is November 1. (The College of Design and First Year College do not accept spring applicants.)
Before a decision can be made on your application the following items must be received:
High School Transcript: Please have your counselor send a copy of your transcript directly to the Admissions office. The transcript should include cumulative high school grade point average, rank in class (if available), and a list of senior year courses. A decision on your application will be delayed until this information is received. High School seniors who have taken classes at a college/university need to send all college transcripts to Admissions.
Standardized Test Scores: NC State requires that either SAT Reasoning or ACT Plus Writing scores be sent electronically from the testing agency – we will not accept scores on school transcripts or other sources. Junior year scores may be used for admission but we strongly recommend a fall senior year score. We encourage an October test since scores received earlier allow for earlier notification. Scores are invalid after five years. NC State's College Board code is 5496; ACT code is 3164.
Transfer Applicants
Students applying for transfer admission should have at least 30 semester hours of transferable credits (http://admissions.ncsu.edu/find-stuff/transfer-student/), including both an English and math course (some programs may require additional minimum coursework). Transfer students must select a specific degree program.
Transfer Application Deadlines: The priority deadline for transfer admission for the summer or fall is April 1; applications for admission for the spring semester are due by November 1. Transfer applications, all academic credentials and online submission of portfolios for studio majors in the College of Design are due November 1; new students are not admitted to Design for the spring.
College Transcripts: Transfer students will need an official transcript from the registrar of each institution previously attended and an official copy of the high school record. If your name has changed, indicate on the application the name that will appear on the transcripts. A decision on your application will be delayed until this information is received.
If work has been completed at an institution outside of the U.S., official transcripts and an official course-by-course evaluation from an accredited foreign educational credentials evaluation service must be submitted. The official evaluation must include course, grade, and credit equivalents in U.S. terms. We will use the credit evaluation to determine your academic admissibility, how many credits you have earned, and how your courses transfer into the U.S. educational system. We suggest using one of the following accredited foreign educational credential evaluation services:
AACRAO International Education Services (IES) (202) 293-9161, ext. 6600 Education Evaluators International, Inc. (401) 521-5340 Educational Credential Evaluators, Inc. High School Transcripts

Some North Carolina public high schools have the capability to electronically send official high school transcripts when you apply online. We encourage you to visit your school counselor to verify coursework and grades prior to requesting an electronic transcript.
To send an electronic transcript, you must:
- Complete this online application.
- Make sure you have entered the following information in your profile and/or application:
- First and Last Name - This must match your NCWISE name (use the name that appears on your report card, or check with your high school counselor).
- NCWISE Student ID - Your NCWISE Student ID is your public high school student identifier number and can be found on your report card. Providing the NCWISE Student ID is voluntary and will give you the opportunity to request your high school transcript electronically.
- Current High School
- Date of Birth
- E-mail Address
- Gender
- Be currently enrolled, or enrolled at the time of graduation, at a participating public high school in North Carolina that has converted from the SIMS system to NCWISE to manage student data. If you are not sure about your school's current status, or its status at the time you graduated, check with your school counselor or office staff.
If these conditions were met when you submitted your application, you will then be presented with the option of sending your high school transcript electronically to that school.
