Transfer Admission

You may be admitted at any class level as a transfer student, but you must complete at least one year at Meredith in order to graduate from Meredith. We also require:
  1. At least an overall C (2.0) average on course work attempted at other colleges you attended, must have 30 hours or meet freshmen requirement
  2. That you be eligible to return to the last college regularly attended
  3. Recommendations
Meredith College will accept all college transfer courses from a North Carolina Community College and selected courses that are not approved as college transfer. Courses not approved as college transfer are reviewed for acceptance on a course by course basis. Students accepted as transfers to Meredith College must have at least an overall C average on all work attempted at other institutions. A student will have junior standing if she has earned 60 semester hours or more. There is no limit to the number of semester hours Meredith will accept from a community college, but all students must complete a minimum of 58 semester hours at four year institutions and a minimum of 31 hours at Meredith. A minimum of 124 semester hours credit is required for graduation from Meredith.

While each community college will have specific associate degree requirements, judicious selections from among the common course library offerings will satisfy most of the Meredith general education requirements. Please refer to the list of Meredith general education requirements with courses from the common course library that will satisfy those requirements. Students who are unable to complete all of the Meredith general education requirements or wish to begin their major requirements at the community college can take the remaining general education courses and major courses when they enter Meredith.

A list of transfer credit opportunities from any North Carolina Community College for general education requirements is available here.

If you have fewer than 30 credit hours, then you must also meet Meredith's freshman admissions requirements. Our catalogue outlines procedures for transfers.

High School Transcripts

Some North Carolina public high schools have the capability to electronically send official high school transcripts when you apply online. We encourage you to visit your school counselor to verify coursework and grades prior to requesting an electronic transcript.

To send an electronic transcript, you must:

  • Complete this online application.
  • Make sure you have entered the following information in your profile and/or application:
    • First and Last name - This must match your NCWISE name (use the name that appears on your report card, or check with your high school counselor).
    • NCWISE Student ID - Your NCWISE Student ID is your public high school student identifier number and can be found on your report card. Providing the NCWISE Student ID is voluntary and will give you the opportunity to request your high school transcript electronically.
    • Current high school (or high school at time of graduation)
    • Date of birth
    • E-mail address
    • Gender
  • Be currently enrolled, or enrolled at the time of graduation, at a participating public high school in North Carolina that has converted from the SIMS system to NCWISE to manage student data. If you are not sure about your school's current status, or status at the time you graduated, check with your school counselor or office staff.
If these conditions were met when you submitted your application, you will then be presented with the option of sending your high school transcript electronically to that school.
